20 Ways to Prevent Spam

February 8, 2007

This is a short follow up to my August 2006 posting, Email Unto Others as Thou Wish to Be Emailed:

Communication is…

September 7, 2006

“Communication is the transfer of emotion….

Our brains have two sides. The right side is emotional and musical. The left side is focused on dexterity and hard data. When you show up to give a presentation, people use both parts of their brains. They use the right side to judge the way you talk, the way you dress and your body language. Often, people come to a conclusion about your presentation by the time you’re on the second slide. After that, it’s often too late for your bullet points to do you much good.
You can wreck the communication process with lousy logic or unsupported facts, but logic is not enough. You can’t complete it without emotion.”

Thank you Mister Toastmaster.
Fellow Toastmasters, honored guests,
I want you to get more from email and to do more with email. My aim today is three-fold:

• First, present your best self through email. This is “Email Unto Others”.

• Second, deal efficiently with the bulk of incoming messages. This is “As Thou Wish”.

• And, third, manage your inbox. This is “To Be Emailed”.

Humorist Resource

August 8, 2006

This weekend (August 5 – 7), I rationalized some procrastination, as investing time in a new resource for when I’m humorist: Jokelopedia: The Biggest, Best, Silliest, Dumbest Joke Book Ever, Second Edition, compiled by Ilana Weitzman.

A small sampling:

Why did the mouse like taking baths?
